Oru Melliya Kodu is a fantasy story, a murder mystery featuring Arjun, Shaam and Manisha Koirala. The film is being directed by AMR Ramesh. Ilayaraja has composed music for the film.
In the film, Manisha Koirala, a well-known entrepreneur is murdered by a mysterious person. Police officers will try to find out the cause of her death and her body, kept for postmortem goes missing. Police officials have deputed Arjun to crack this case. He suspects Shaam who is Manisha's husband and a doctor by profession to be the reason behind her death.
In the end, will Arjun find out who has stolen Manisha's dead body? Why did they kidnap her body? How and why was she killed? are the variables that needs an answer and the director has beautifully unfolded the series of events in an engaging manner.
Arjun is a pioneer in donning the role of a cop and is a tailor-fit for this character. In this movie too, he has played a different shade of police officer with ease. There is not much of action, but there are so many twists and turns in the movie. It is about a one night investigation and Shaam's acting, especially in the scenes where he encounters with Arjun are too good to watch. He answers the questions raised to him with confidence which makes us wonder what really happened to Manisha.
Shaam's role is a mix of protagonist and baddie or so it seems. He has proven that he can take any role in his stride. Manisha Koirala has little to do in the film. Even though her on screen time is less, she has done a good job. Her introduction song where she is seen as Shaam's lover must be appreciated. Song visuals are good. Director Ramesh who is seen as a police personnel along with Arjun suits the role perfectly.
From the beginning till the end, the thrill factor is always there and it will keep us on the edge of our seats. He has not wasted anytime to develop the plot and has given a valuable piece of work. Good story line is the base of the film. One could not judge what will happen next and the climax is rather surprising.
Ilayaraja's music is refreshing and his powerful music adds more thrill to the film. Though many scenes are shot in the hospital, Krishna Sreeram's cinematography work and Krishna Reddy's editing manages to hide the very fact. Even if they had erected a hospital set in many places, it looks like it is a real one.
Overall, Oru Melliya Kodi is an engaging entertainer and there's a lot of twists and turns at regular intervals.
