Fearing his mother’s (Senthilkumari) wrath, Jega who fails in his school exam runs away from his home town. He works in a hotel in Trichy and after some years he takes his earnings and goes to his town for holidays. There he meets his mother, gives his savings to her and makes her happy. Along with this, he falls in love with his uncle's daughter (Archana Kavi). She also develops the same feeling towards him.

When he is about to return to Trichy he wants to present a ring to his lover but his mom comes to know about it and ruins the relationship. Jega comes back to Trichy in a depressing mood and unluckily he is dismissed from his job by one of the owners. Therefore he goes to Chennai looking for a job. During that time he saves a woman from a mysterious gang.

Feeling for the girl, he decides to take her along with him. Thinking them to be siblings, Thambi Ramaiah gives them shelter but in few days they come to know that the woman is pregnant. Whether Jega is able to find out the culprit and prove his innocence is the rest of the story.

Jega shows promise and has done well. Archana Kavi looks good on screen. Senthilkumari as Jega's mother fits well in the role and has given excellent performance. Daniel Balaji has less scope as Jega’s father but is appreciated for his acting.

If given more care, director Elayadevan could have avoided the feeling of a documentary film. Tajnoor's music and Selvakumar’s cinematography is a plus to the movie.
