We were one of the first sites to break the news that 2.0 will be hitting the screens for Diwali 2017 which falls on the 18th of October. Since it's a Wednesday, the film can captivate on the 5 day opening weekend.
What's interesting is the fact that even with every festival having a biggie released by one huge star or another, the last time Rajini's film released for Diwali was back in 1995. That's right. 21 years back, Muthu hit the screens and we don't have to tell how much of a hit it was. So with 2.0 Rajini is having a Diwali release after more than 2 decades.
If this wasn't enough, it's also worth noting that Director Shankar is having a Diwali release after a long time too. This is only his second Diwali release after Mudhalvan which released way back in 1999.
2.0 stars Rajini alongside Amy Jackson, Akshay Kumar and a plethora of talents. The much awaited flick is bankrolled by Lyca Productions.
