Uriyadi's hero Vijay Kumar along with his three friends are studying in a college at Trichy and reside in a hostel. The gang spends most of their time at a bar name Dhaba run by Mime Gopi.

One day, as the gang spends time at the bar, a fight erupts with few students. Few days later, Vijay Kumar's friend gets killed as an act of revenge by the opposite gang.

Watching the whole ruckus unfold, Mime Gopi decides to take advantage of the situation to jump into the political arena. As a result, he orchestrates a riot among the students. How this riot unfolds the film's plot, whether Mime Gopi's plans succeed form the core elements of Uriyadi.

Debutante Vijay Kumar has emoted exceptionally well showing no signs of an inexperienced artiste. In addition, the cast forming his friends have acted well in their respective roles. Mime Gopi's villainous take has paid off well as he has scored big time with his performance which has elevated the film's overall impact.

Director Vijay Kumar has written the A certificate Uriyadi keeping in mind the violence and student riots. As a result of an overdose violence in the film, it starts to get a bit repetitive as the film progresses.

Songs by Anthony Dasan, Masala Coffee are enjoyable. The backgrounds score in Uriyadi by Vijay Kumar is okay to an extent. Paul Livingston's cinematography is a major plus for the film.

In short, Uriyadi is a solid cracker.
