The embroiled-in-a-controversy duo of Anirudh and Simbu did not make an appearance here at the Race Course Police Station, Coimbatore, yesterday, despite having been issued summons. Actor Silambarasan aka STR and composer Anirudh Ravichander, had been asked to be present regarding a case against their controversial Beep Song that denigrated women with its objectionable lyrics. The All India Democratic Women's Association had filed a complaint against the duo and the police, in turn, had asked STR and Anirudh to appear at the police station on December 19.

But though Anirudh and STR failed to turn up, the former's father, veteran actor Ravi Raghavendra, sent out a letter to the Coimbatore city Police denying the involvement of Anirudh in the song. He added that his son was ready to appear before the police station in ten days' time. Anirudh's lawyer, who represented the composer at the station, seconded Ravi Raghavendra. He said that Anirudh didn't compose the song and that he didn't have any role in it. He also told the police that Anirudh was ready to appear before the Coimbatore city police for explanation. Anirudh, he informed, was in Toronto and was expected to return to Chennai in a weeks' time.

In the meantime, Simbu's father, veteran actor T Rajhenderr had also sent a letter to the Race Course Police Station asking that STR be exempted from personally appearing at the police station on December 19 and a stay on the summon for one month. At the time of going to the press, the police had not decided the further course of action.
