Tamil cinema's tryst with the supernatural continues and unless one of us decide to turn into a ghost and scare the life out of our movie makers, this tryst cannot be terminated.
Srikanth works in a car showroom in Trichy. He falls in love with Nilam Upadhyay who soon becomes his colleague and the increased proximity makes her reciprocate Srikanth's feeling.
Srikanth is followed by five people wherever he goes like the famous pug we all know. They happen to be ghosts with 'niraiveradha aasaigal' and Srikanth is duty bound to fulfil their desires.
Nilam, upon observing Srikanth's behaviour, decides to leave him. At this point , frankly most of the audience must be empathising with Neelam.
Is Srikanth able to win her back ? Is he able to fulfil the wishes of his ghost friends is Prabhakaran's 'Om Shanthi Om'.
Srikanth's performance is brilliant. As a common man, a love struck romantic and a friend of the ghosts he has eased into the role. Neelam has minimal scope and has delivered what was expected out of her. Baalaya's comeback after a long time is reassuring. Rajendran gives us the witty lines and Aadukalam Naren comes as the terrifying villain.
While Om Shanthi Om definitely reminds us about a recent star studded movie of the same genre, it has to be mentioned that the movie was in making for a long time and is a delayed release. Nevertheless the director could have avoided the logical blunders.
Bhaskar's clear cinematography is a real positive and Vijay Ebenezer's music adds strength to the movie.
