After the heady success of Madras, Karthi decided to plunge right into the shooting of his next flick Komban. The shooting has been going on at a fast pace in the remote areas of Ramanathapuram. The film is a rural subject and Karthi will be seen in a rustic look once again, many years after his debut film Paruthiveeran. The actor has undergone a makeover for the role.

The main portions of the film have been canned despite the unit having run into a spell of heavy rains recently. Apparently, crowds in thousands turned up for the shooting at the locations, whenever the unit set up base to shoot. But the people didn’t disturb the shoot and seemed happy that a film was being shot in their area for the first time. A source in the unit reveals that Karthi and the actors got many invitations for a meal in the villages. On one occasion, a huge feast was also organised for everyone.

After a hectic schedule, the unit was back in Chennai last week to take a break, before the next round of shooting. CE has learnt that next, the unit will be heading back to Ramanathapuram again. This time, the main item on the agenda is the shooting of three songs. Lakshmi Menon pairs up with Karthi in this flick, while Kovai Sarala and Raj Kiran play important roles. Thambi Ramaiah, Karunas and Super Subbarayan make the rest of the cast. CE has learnt that three songs remain to be shot, including one fast number and two melodies. The film is among the first to be shot in the remote and tough terrain of Ramanathapuram and for the song shoots too, the unit is heading back there to keep the realistic feel intact. The special feature of the film is that no sets have been put up and everything has been shot on live locations in the area, to add to the realistic feel. The film is directed by Kaatupuli fame director Muthiah and produced by Studio Green. The music is by G V Prakash, while Velraj cranks the camera. The makers are looking at a possible Pongal release.
